Special entry permits for Palestinian journalists

By instruction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, special entry permits have been issued to Palestinian journalists accredited by the Government Press Office. The Prime Minister's decision was reached in accordance with Israel's ongoing policy of easing restrictions on the Palestinian population.

Palestinian journalists attempting to enter areas under Israeli control, have -- in recent years -- encountered difficulties which have interfered with their ability to fulfill their journalistic duties.

In light of the Prime Minister's instruction, nearly 120 Palestinian journalists have received permits from the security services which allow them -- in coordination with the coordination and liaison offices -- to enter the Green Line, within the framework of their media-related duties.

The Prime Minister has granted the Government Press Office the authority to handle matters relating to the Palestinian journalists, and to assist them in accordance with the criteria which are being decided upon by the security authorities.
