PM'S Spokesman: Response to remarks made by Abu Ala
In response to remarks made by Abu Ala on Radio Palestine calling on Palestinians to fight settlers physically and his protest concerning the non-release of security prisoners, Prime Minister's Spokesman Aviv Bushinsky today (Tuesday) 1.12.98 issued the following statement: The Prime Minister will not tolerate threats of violence -- not on any Israeli citizens, and not on the residents of Judea and Samaria. Statements of this kind are a violation of the agreement. The Prime Minister also suggested that the leaders of the PA refresh their memories by reading the Wye River Memorandum, according to which it is Israel which will determine the categories to which freed Palestinian prisoners belong. The Prime Minister will under no circumstances free Hamas prisoners, or prisoners with blood on their hands.
