Jerusalem, 22 December 1997 Foreign Ministry joint Celebration
of Hanukkah, Christmas eve and upcoming Ramadan
for International TraineesPresident Ezer Weizman and Mrs. Reuma Weizman will join a holiday celebration for trainees attending courses in the framework of the Foreign Ministry's Center for International Cooperation (Mashav), on Wednesday, 24.12.97 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Jerusalem. The event will be held in the presence of Foreign Ministry Director-General Eitan Bentsur.
During the evening, 350 trainees from 60 countries -- including Jordan, Egypt and Turkey -- and the Palestinian Authority, together will light the second candle of Hanukkah, celebrate Christmas Eve and mark the entrance of Ramadan. Trainees also represent countries from Asia, Eastern Europe, the CIS, Africa and Latin America.
Director-General Bentsur said, "This event represents the only venue in which 350 men and women, representing a wide rage of nationalities and religions, are gathering together to light the Hanukkah candles, celebrate Christmas Eve and the New Year, and mark the upcoming Ramadan. This evening also constitutes the festive commencement of the events to mark the 40th anniversary of Mashav."
