Communicated by Defense Minister's Spokesman 23 November 1997 Defense Minister condemns shelling in Security Zone Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai today (Sun) 23.11.97, strongly condemned the criminal shelling of the village of Beit Lief in the security zone, as a result of which 7 civilians (children, women and old people) were killed, and four more wounded. The Defense Minister vigorously condemned all firing on civilians, which is completely contrary to, and a serious violation of the understandings reached after the "Grapes of Wrath" operation. The Defense Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the Lebanese civilians killed in the shelling, and to General Antoine Lahad, and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
