Communicated by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Jerusalem, 8 September 1999 Deputy FM Massalha contacts greek counterpart regarding Athens earthquake   Deputy Foreign Minister Nawaf Masalha today (Wednesday), 8.9.99, contacted his Greek counterpart, Yannos Kranidiotis, to -- on behalf of the government and people of Israel -- express condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Athens. Deputy Minister Masalha emphasized the solidarity of the Greek and Israeli peoples and offered all necessary aid, including despatching the IDF Rescue Unit. Mr. Kranidiotis expressed his thanks and said that the Greek government is examining what aid is needed and would not hesitate to approach Israel if necessary.
