September 2, 1999 "Teletrom" for the Victims of the Earthquake in Turkey   On Thursday, September 2, Israel Television's Channel 1 in coordination with the Israel Foreign Ministry will conduct a "Teletrom" (telethon) fund-raising campaign on behalf of the victims of the recent earthquake in Turkey. The six-hour broadcast will feature appearances by leading Israeli performers as well as interviews with Israeli survivors of the earthquake and members of the Israeli rescue and relief efforts, as coordinated by the Israel Foreign Ministry and the Israel Defense Forces. The "Teletrom" will be broadcast live on Israel Television from 19:30 to 02:00 Israel time (17:30-00:00 GMT). During the broadcast, the public will be able to phone in contributions to a special fund established to provide housing for the homeless survivors of the earthquake.
