FM Levy meets Head of Moroccan Liaison Office Lahcen
Foreign Minister David Levy today (Monday), 30.8.99, met in his Jerusalem office with the Head of the Moroccan Liaison Office, Ejjit Lahcen, who brought a message from King Muhammad VI.
Foreign Minister Levy briefed his guest on the status of the negotiations with the Palestinians and presented Israel's position on the issues on the agenda. Mr. Lahcen asked for clarifications regarding Israel's positions in the negotiations in order to pass them onto King Muhammad VI.
Foreign Minister Levy praised the late King Hassan's wisdom and daring in opening relations with Israel five years ago. Levy stated that Israel is pleased with the relationship between the two countries and would welcome further progress in Israeli-Moroccan relations, noting in this context both his upcoming visit to the United Nations, where he is expected to meet Moroccan Foreign Minister Muhammad Ben-Aissa, and last week's visit to Morocco by a senior Israel Foreign Ministry official.
