Communicated by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Jerusalem, 18 August 1999 FM Levy meets Egyptian Ambassador Bassiouny   Foreign Minister David Levy today (Wednesday) 18.8.99 met Egyptian Ambassador Mohammed Bassiouny following Egypt's refusal yesterday to allow an El Al plane fly through Egyptian airspace, forcing the plane to return to Israel. Ambassador Bassiouny reiterated that Egypt has no diplomatic or political intention to make difficulties for El Al flights in Egyptian airspace and that the incidents were the result of a misunderstanding of the standard operating procedures between the aviation authorities. The Ambassador stated that the matter would be taken care of.
