Communicated by the PM's Media Advisor Jerusalem, 10 August 1999 PM Barak responds to Nahshon Junction terrorist attack and closure of Gate on Temple Mount   At the beginning of the Cabinet meeting on the budget today (Tuesday), 10.8.99, Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak commented on this morning's terrorist attack at Nahshon Junction. He spoke of the gravity of the attack and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded. Prime Minister Barak stressed that the authorities dealing with this subject will give their opinion on the free movement of vehicles from Judea and Samaria within the Green Line. Prime Minister Barak also reported on the Ministry of Public Security's actions in closing the gate that had been opened recently on the Temple Mount and praised the prompt action of both the ministry and the police. Prime Minister Barak, who approved the action in coordination with Public Security Minister Shlomo Ben- Ami, said that this was the right kind of response which will be taken wherever individuals break the law and try to establish facts on the ground. Prime Minister Barak stressed that a series of discussions on this subject will be held in the near future in the relevant forums. PM BARAK CONDEMNS NAHSHON TERRORIST ATTACK AND BREECH OF TEMPLE MOUNT WALL (Communicated by Prime Minister's Media Advisor) Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak today (Tuesday) 10.8.99 stated that he considers today's terrorist attack at Nahshon Junction as a very serious act, which was perpetrated by a cowardly and fanatic criminal. He added that Israel will continue to act vigorously, and with determination, against terrorism wherever and whenever it occurs. Prime Minister Barak added that the attack shows the need for increased cooperation between Israel and the Palestinians, saying, "The peace process that will bring an end to the century-old conflict will not be solved in three-and-a-half weeks. We can expect further attempts, in the near future, against innocent women and children by radical groups that oppose the peace process." He sent his best wishes for a quick recovery to the injured. Prime Minister Barak also discussed the issue of the opening made in the Temple Mount wall, which he characterized as an unacceptable and unilateral illegal act. He praised the police for their quick and decisive action on the matter.
