Communicated by the Prime Minister's Media Adviser Jerusalem, 23 August 1998 Special Budget to be allocated to Arab Education System in Eastern Jerusalem   1. The Cabinet today (Sunday) 23.8.98 approved the allocation of NIS 130,000,000 in order to bring Arab education in eastern Jerusalem up to the standards of the education system in the western part of the city. 2. In a meeting convened this afternoon, attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Ministers of Finance, Education and Public Security and the Mayor of Jerusalem, a three-year plan was formulated. The plan will begin to be implemented with the opening of the next academic year. 3. The funds will be allocated to: I. Making equal budgets for the education systems in the eastern and western parts of the city. II. The building of 130 classrooms. (At a cost of NIS 65,000,000.) III. The publication and production of educational books. IV. A holistic educational programme.
