Jerusalem, 18 September 1997 Today's terror attack in Cairo
Foreign Minister David Levy sent letters of condolence to his Egyptian counterpart Amr Musa and his German counterpart Klaus Kinkel on the death of innocent civilians in a terror attack in Egypt today (18.9.97). In these dispatches, Foreign Minister Levy expresses his condolences and those of the Israeli government and people to the families of those killed and to the Egyptian and German peoples, as well as wishes of recovery to the injured.
Following the attack in the heart of the Egyptian capital which caused many deaths and injuries, the Foreign Minister emphasizes that today's attack is additional proof that terror hits all people without differentiation .
The peace-loving international community must fight terror wherever it strikes with decisiveness and determination. This struggle will succeed only if it is clear to all there is no justification or excuse for these criminal attacks, whether political, religious, or otherwise.
No one should reconcile themselves under any circumstances to the existence of terror, which recognizes no boundaries and shows no hospitality. This is an affliction which must be completely uprooted. All who sanctify human life must remember this and join forces in the struggle against this crime.
It is incumbent upon all governments, leaders and authorities to fight terror to the end. Only in this way can we destroy its infrastructure and abolish it.
