Communicated by DM's Media Advisor Jerusalem, 8 September 1997 US to help Israel to retrieve soldier's body US Secretary of Defense William Cohen telephoned Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai on Saturday evening, 6.9.97, to give his condolences on the 11 naval commandos who fell in action in southern Lebanon and on the death of the innocent civilians in the terrorist attack in the Jerusalem pedestrian mall. US Secretary of Defense Cohen told Defense Minister Mordechai that President Bill Clinton asked him to personally extend his heartfelt condolences on the two terrible events that struck the State of Israel, to him and the IDF. US Secretary of Defense Cohen also told Defense Minister Mordechai that the United States will do everything in its power to help the IDF return the body of the missing soldier from the Lebanon action to burial in Israel.
