Communicated by the MFA Spokesman
Jerusalem, September 7, 1997 MFA Spokesman reaction to publication of photographs
Barbaric photographs have recently appeared in the media in several countries. One shows the severed head of an Israeli soldier held by a man, and a second photograph shows other body parts.
In response to the publication of these photographs, including by newspapers in the West, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman published the following statement on September 7, 1997:
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman expresses outrage at the publication of the shocking photograph showing part of the body of an Israeli soldier killed in Lebanon.
It is unacceptable that the media in enlightened countries, which are expected to maintain professional and moral standards, would allow the publication of this abhorrent photograph.
