Foreign Minister Levy to visit Canada

Foreign Minister, David Levy, will tomorrow morning (Tuesday), 2.9.97, leave for a two-day visit to Canada. He is scheduled to have a working meeting on Wednesday morning with his Canadian colleague Lloyd Axworthy.

The Foreign Minister will then meet with Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien.

Foreign Minister Levy will discuss the details of the peace process with his Canadian interlocutors, including Israel's position regarding the importance of its fight against terrorism, as well as its striving to promote the Palestinian track of the peace process.

The Foreign Minister will discuss the importance of the visit of US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to the Middle East next week, with the aim of advancing the peace process.

During his visit, Foreign Minister Levy will attend the dedication of the Sephardic Jewish Educational Centre of the Canadian Sephardic Jewish community in Toronto on Tuesday evening. A synagogue at the centre will also be dedicated. The Foreign Minister will be the honored guest at the event of over 2000 people, and will give the keynote speech.

The Foreign Minister will return to Israel at the end of his visit.
