Jerusalem, 7 July 1997 Easing of entrance entry restrictions
from Judea, Samaria, and GazaDefense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai and IDF Chief of Staff Amnon Lipkin- Shahak today, Monday, 7.7.97, approved easing entrance restrictions from Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza Strip to Israel. The new guidelines went into effect this morning at 04:00 hours.
The following are the new guidelines:
- The age for married workers entering Israel from the Gaza Strip has been reduced to 25 from 27.
- Passage is allowed for 750 merchants and VIPs from Judea and Samaria to Israel and 250 merchants and VIPs from the Gaza Strip to Israel.
- Passage is allowed for an additional 100 vehicles of VIPs and merchants from Judea and Samaria to Israel.
- Passage is allowed for an additional 10 trucks with the convoy from the Gaza Strip to Judea and Samaria.
- On a daily basis, passage is allowed for a bus to transfer Palestinian Authority workers from Judea and Samaria to the Gaza Strip.
- Controlled movement of Palestinians for humanitarian needs between Judea and Samaria and the Gaza Strip is allowed.
