PM Netanyahu Receives Letters of Appreciation
on Israeli Field Hospital in Macedonia
Prior to the return of the Israeli delegation which had established a field hospital for refugees from Kosovo, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Thursday), 22.4.99, received letters of appreciation from Albanian President Rexhep Meidani, Macedonian President Kiro Gligorov and Albanian Prime Minister Pandeli Majko.
Albanian Prime Minister Majko wrote: "Please let me ... express my deepest gratitude for the precious assistance and support you are providing ... particularly in these difficult moments... I am sure that the admirable determination and assistance of the Israeli people will serve as a model not only for the Albanians, but for all those whose aim is peace and prosperity in our region... With the conviction that the relations of friendship and collaboration between our two countries and people will be further strengthened and developed in the future, to face the challenges of peace and development... Pandeli Majko."
Prime Minister Netanyahu has also decided to allow two additional refugees -- who have requested shelter in Israel -- to join the aforementioned Israeli delegation (which is due to return at 14:30 today). They are a 26 year-old, third-year medical student -- who aided the Israeli delegation, almost from the day it arrived, as a translator and medical assistant -- and his brother. The Jewish Agency and IDF Deputy Chief Medical Officer Lt.-Col. Hezi Levy updated the Prime Minister on the details; Prime Minister Netanyahu thereupon directed that the two refugees be brought to Israel.
