Russian FM Ivanov to visit Israel

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov will pay a working visit to Israel on 22-23.4.99, as part of a trip to the region. The visit follows the visit by Foreign minister Ariel Sharon to Moscow, and is intended to promote dialogue on the peace process, regional security and bilateral matters.

FM Ivanov will meet FM Sharon, President Ezer Weizman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Industry and Trade Minister Natan Sharansky and prime ministerial candidates MK Ehud Barak and MK Yitzhak Mordechai.

FM Sharon will accompany FM Ivanov on an aerial tour in order to clarify strategic issues regarding Israel's security and the peace process. This is FM Ivanov's first official visit to Israel.
