Advisory for Israelis Abroad - The Caucasus Region

Due to the present prevalent situation in the Caucasus region of the Russian Federation, which has been characterized by - among other things - the kidnapping of Israeli citizens for ransom, the Israeli Foreign Ministry wishes to bring to the public's attention that the Northern Caucasus is to be considered a hazardous region for Israeli travellers and visitors for any purpose.

More information is available from the Israel Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, and the Israel Embassy in Moscow.

Notwithstanding the above, the Foreign Ministry wishes to stress that one's decision to travel to, or stay in, the Northern Caucasus is given to the individual's own consideration, and must be taken on one's own responsibility. The Foreign Ministry wishes to clarify that, from the perspective of Israeli law, there exists no prohibition on travel to, or stay in, the aforementioned areas.
