FM Levy thanks 'WEOG' Foreign Ministers

Foreign Minister David Levy sent a letter last night (June 1) to his fellow Foreign Ministers from the UN's Western European and Others Group (WEOG) and to the UN Secretary General thanking them, on behalf of the Government of Israel, for their part in achieving Israel's acceptance into the group.

The Foreign Minister stated that Israel's inclusion in WEOG, which redresses a fundamental injustice that existed for four decades, symbolizes a turning point and a new relationship that brings Israel closer to the normalization of its status in the UN. In addition, Mr. Levy requested their continuing support in the efforts to include Israel in the Western Group of the UN's special agencies situated in Geneva, Vienna, Bonn and Nairobi.
