Communicated by Foreign Ministry Spokesman  Jerusalem, 15 May 2000 Re-Establishment of Diplomatic Ties with Sri Lanka   The following is the text of the communique signed on May 15, between Israel and Sri Lanka, re-establishing diplomatic relations between the two states: JOINT COMMUNIQUE CONCERNING THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF THE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF SRI LANKA The Government of the State of Israel and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Guided by the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1963. Desirous to promote and strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between their countries and peoples, on the basis of equality, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of one another, Have decided to restore their diplomatic relations at Ambassadorial level as of today. The practical aspects of this decision, including the accreditation of Ambassadors, will be pursued through the diplomatic channel.
