Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman  Jerusalem, 3 May 2000 The Trial of the Jews in Iran   The false charges of espionage against two other Jewish detainees on the basis of pseudo confessions, obtained by improper means practiced in the Iranian prisons, are repugnant and contemptible. The entire trial, being conducted behind closed doors - contrary to Iran's pledges to the world community - at which the judge is also the prosecutor and the investigator, and the accused confess their purported "guilt" immediately and publicly before the media, is reminiscent of staged trials that characterized the dark periods of modern history.
