Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman  Jerusalem, 14 April 2000 Israeli runner wins half marathon in Jordan   For the first time in the history of the international race held annually in Jordan from Amman to the Dead Sea, an Israeli runner won today (14.4) in the half marathon event. Uri Bar Zeev won the race with a time of one hour, 8 minutes and 10 seconds. Another Israeli, Avraham Akra, took second place with a time of one hour, 10 minutes and 27 seconds. This is the 8th consecutive year the race has been held, and the first time Israel has participated. This is following a request by the organizers that Israeli runners take part. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the funding for bringing the Israeli runners Bar Zeev and Arka to the half marathon race. About 20 Israelis came on their own to take part in the various events of the race, which was sponsored by the Jordanian royal house.
