EU Commissioner for Foreign Relations Visits Israel
The EU Commissioner responsible for foreign relations, Chris Patten, will arrive in Israel for a visit between April 5-6, as part of a Middle Eastern tour.
In the course of his visit, Mr. Patten will meet with the President of Israel, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Justice, the Minister for Regional Cooperation, and Minister Haim Ramon. In addition, he will visit Yad Vashem and will present an address before the Israeli Foreign Policy Forum.
The large number of meetings organized for the guest reflect the good relations between Israel and the EU, and the intensive economic and political dialogue between the sides. Mr. Patten, who served as the last governor of Hong Kong, and beforehand as Minister for Overseas Development in the British government, is expected to discuss the enhancement of ties between Israel and the EU.
