Nazi Memorials in Latvia The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the memorials for the Waffen S.S. held in Riga, the capital of Latvia, at the beginning of this week. It is singularly distressing that in a country, the decisive majority of whose Jewish population was murdered on its soil, there are those who choose to remember precisely the murderers and their collaborators.
We view positively the step taken by the Latvian government, which called upon its official representatives not to take part in these memorials, and hope that this approach will be adopted by all the people of Latvia.
