Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman  Jerusalem, January 11, 2000 'People to People' Committee   This morning (Jan. 11, 2000), Israel Foreign Ministry Director-General Eytan Bentsur met in Jerusalem with the head of the Palestinian delegation to the 'People to People' Committee, Mr. Soufian Abu Zeidah. Mr. Bentsur called for an easing of the suspicions and doubts regarding the honorable intentions of both sides. The two delegation heads agreed upon a renewal of the work of the joint committee, in recognition of the importance that cooperation between the two peoples holds, and the significant impact that it has for the sides, especially now, on the eve of the achievement of a permanent status agreement between them. Furthermore, the two discussed ways to promote the work of the committee, in order to realize a number of joint project, such as meetings between youth, sports and cultural events. The discussions were held in a friendly atmosphere, and at their conclusion, it was decided to reconvene in the near future.
