Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman    Jerusalem, 7 September 2000 The Opening of the Sydney Olympic Games A cultural festival will be held during the Sydney Olympic Games which will officially open on September 15. Israel will be represented at a number of special events, most of which have been organized and coordinated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit will be displayed at the National Gallery of New South Wales - the host of the games. On September 25, a special musical evening will take place at the same gallery, which will be devoted to Israeli music, with the accompaniment of local ethnic musical instruments. The Albert Einstein exhibit, under the auspices of the Hebrew University, will be displayed at the Jewish Museum in Sydney (148 Darlinghurst Road). On September 18, an Israel Day will be held at the "Samsung" pavilion in the Olympic Park, commencing at 10:00 in the morning. Israel is one of fifteen states that has been chosen to stage a national day. In the course of the day, there will be live musical appearances by Israeli artists, video screenings, exhibitions and the distribution of souvenirs. At 19:00, the athletes of the Israeli delegation will be presented to the audience.
