Communicated by the  Foreign Ministry Spokesman   Jerusalem, July 3, 2000 FM Levy Meets with Turkish Deputy Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Osman Faruk Logoglu Foreign Minister David Levy met today (July 3) with the Turkish Deputy Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Osman Faruk Logoglu. At the beginning of the meeting, Foreign Minister Levy expressed his satisfaction regarding the relations between the two countries and the many high-level visits which have taken place. Levy said, "The cooperation with Turkey crosses party and ethnic lines in Israel, and we are ready to strengthen our ties in all areas. The relations between the countries are based upon real friendship and common interests."   Foreign Minister Levy conveyed his appreciation for the ongoing political dialogue between Turkey and Israel, and stated that the institutionalization of the political dialogues constituted further proof that the relations have now reached a practical and serious level.   Foreign Minister Levy informed his guest that another delegation has just returned from Turkey (on July 2), following a visit related to the water issue, reflecting the seriousness with which Israel is exploring possible cooperation in this area. Levy stated that Israel views this cooperation as an important step for the two countries.   The two Ministers expressed their mutual satisfaction at the volume of trade which is approaching $1 billion, and which may even exceed this sum in the course of this year. Businessmen have displayed great interest, and many joint ventures have been established in a wide variety of areas.   At the beginning of the meeting, Foreign Minister Levy responded to questions relating to the disagreement with the United States on the Phalcon issue. He said, "The matter is being dealt with directly at the highest level, and I am certain that it will be resolved in the near future."
